Georgia Couple Busted for Tattooing Own Kids.

A Georgia couple is out on bond after being charged with illegally tattooing six of their children because the kids wanted to be more like them.

Patty Jo Marsh, arrested last week with Jacob Bartels for using a makeshift machine to tattoo small crosses on the hands of the six oldest kids —aged 10, 11, 11, 12, 15, and 17—in their blended family.

Tattoo artist says his craft is becoming accepted as an art form.

Chris Autry, tattoo artist/owner of Black Orchid Tattoo Shop, says "I do a little bit of everything; paint, draw ... basically I am a full-time artist."

Autry also operates a progressive art gallery in the front of his shop.

I taught himself to tattoo and has been doing so in various shops for eight years. "But you've definitely got to have an understanding of the concepts of art." He has been drawing and painting since he was a child, and uses those skills to create tattoos.

"I get to tattoo in my own style and I get to do what I want to do. Basically I get to get up and draw all day. It is a great career ... a great, not-answer-to-anybody career. I got nothing to complain about."

2 charged in tattoo artist’s death.

Atlanta police have arrested a man and a woman wanted in the murder of tattoo artist Dwight Smith last year.

Denarryl Head, 27, and Miche Hunt, 25, were taken into custody at the Ramada Inn in College Park on Tuesday.

Authorities said he was performing tattoo work on a man at the time, while a group of people watched the procedure.

Smith was shot in the head when one of the men in the group tried to rob him and he fought back, authorities said.

Tattoo Shops Banned in Uptown Columbus.

"After being there 6 years with no problems I didn't think that it would be that difficult just to move across the street but when I did do it went to get my license found out they had changed the zoning and there was no more tattoos studios allowed to open Broadway," says Fred "Falcon" Sibary of Falcon's Tattoos.

Falcon had no idea Columbus had changed its zoning ordinance, being grandfathered in. But once he gave up his lease for across the street he lost that and was forced to move to Veterans Parkway.

The owner of Falcon's does have the right to challenge the ordinance. But at this point he has no plans to do so because the building on Veteran's Parkway is a better building than what Broadway could offer.
